Fitness Events in Columbus County
Ready for your personal endurance challenge? Take the Lake is a free, noncompetitive event for runners, walkers, cyclists, paddlers, and swimmers that takes place every Labor Day weekend. You can sign up and participate just 1 event or complete 2, 3, or even all 4, if you're up for the full challenge! Come out on Saturday for the 15 mile walk/run, Sunday for the 14 mile paddle and 15 mile bike & hike, or Monday for the 4 mile swim. Their extensive website and blog should clear up any further questions!
Cycle NC - An awesome 400+ mile ride from Asheville to Ocean Isle Beach beginning Sept. 25. They ride right through Columbus County, and so can you! Join this great adventure for the whole week, or just one day. The last night of the ride is in Whiteville, and the last day is a 47-mile ride to the beach. Visit the web site here.

Gator Trail Run - 50k run through the trails of Lake Waccamaw State Park. Held on a Saturday in late March. $35 fee. Visit the Wilmington Road Runners Club, at wilmingtonroadrunners.org.
